Fatto a Milano (Made in Milan), a short documentary made by Martin Scorsese on Giorgio Armani’s creative process. Required viewing for anyone interested in cultivating their aesthetic taste.

A lovely silk crepe de chine creation by Prabal Gurung. Alas, even on 60% sale it is out of my reach budget-wise (800 euro? ACK!) but what I CAN do is let it inspire my future design process. The gentle bleeding of the feather/cloud print near the neck is sheer heaven.

Now I’m definitely thinking of using photos I took from Emei mountain in Sichuan, China and incorporating it into a new print onto silk organza.

The design process definitely takes longer, but the payoff of making something beautiful that had origins from your OWN MIND and imagination is so great and rewarding. I wish people would wake up to their own creative potentials and stop allowing brands and marketing budgets to dictate what they wear. My act of designing my own dresses is my solution to this problem.

Hi hi hi everyone. So sorry I fell off the style/clothes/design blogging. I’ve been focusing on my other projects and traveling for the past year so please forgive me!
Updates to the wardrobe: I’ve been designing my own dresses, so I’m actually not buying as much as I used to. There’s something quite different about shopping for something to wear, and paying close attention to all the details of a garment because you admire the construction. Small and thin line, huge difference.
Now I usually buy things that I know I have no way in hell of making, at least not until I find a talented and dedicated seamstress (which is difficult these days, trust me!).
For example, I had my eye on this Alexander Wang Perfecto bonded coat for the past few months. It retailed at over $1K and I’d been waiting until the perfect time during sales to get it. On Saks this morning, I had it in my bag and was debating shipping it to Italy or America for a grand total of 5 minutes when it SOLD OUT! I guess there was only 1 left, and somebody grabbed it for $330 from underneath me!
So sad so sad. You snooze you lose and other cliches. However, I am in Italy and tomorrow is when the huge spring/summer sales begin at stores all across the country. I’ll be on that first bus to the Mall outlet for Balenciaga at 90% off - SEE YOU THERE!

Hi, it’s yours truly.

Honestly, have you seen something this incredible? Nicholas Kirkwood does it again…redefining what we normally think about shoes into sculptural art pieces. For the feet.  Honestly, have you seen something this incredible? Nicholas Kirkwood does it again…redefining what we normally think about shoes into sculptural art pieces. For the feet.

I also found this miu miu gown at such a ridiculous price at the Prada outlet…Thank goodness I fit a 40! I just don’t know when I’ll have an event to wear this to.

……And here it is! A lovely Balenciaga lambskin leather jacket, so I can be good and ready for fall/winter like a little lamb. Baaaaaaaah.

Counting down the days until I can get my grubby hands on this Balenciaga jacket…His jackets are seriously unrivaled in terms of construction. I must post what I just bought at the outlets yesterday. Stay tuned.

Gorgeous much? These Dries Van Noten FW12 loafers are so strange, yet captivating…like adjectives a 30’s screwball film star would use. Gorgeous much? These Dries Van Noten FW12 loafers are so strange, yet captivating…like adjectives a 30’s screwball film star would use.
